DailyGood: Managing with the Brain in Mind

Really interesting article about what it does to the physical body when we are “left out” of something – literally, our social reality and how interweaved it is with work.

It also talks about the qualities that enable employees to respond effectively to “being left out”:

Five particular qualities enable employees and executives alike to minimize the threat response and instead enable the reward response. These five social qualities are status, certainty, autonomy, relatedness, and fairness.

  1. Great article about the brain but it sure gives a leader a lot to think about. The thing that really resonated with me is the issue of fairness – split a dollar rather than get $8? Yes, that’s consistent with my experience.
